As I watch the self-destruction of the Republican Party, I am equally astounded and disgusted by the ironic observations I have made in light of recent behaviors. Most of this is directed at those on the fringe because they have completely taken leave of any sense they ever had and have not lived in reality for quite some time, but it is also for those who propagate the lies and allow them to flourish.

For what I can tell, the more conservative you are, the more "Christian" you are. I say that sardonically because the truth of the matter is they may spew Bible verses, dogmas, and doctrines at you with dizzying speed and biting fury, but they fail in modeling and honoring the instruments of the God they claim to serve.

The last time I checked, God doesn't stand for pedophilia and, yet, there is one candidate running for office who openly admits he slept with a 14-year-old girl when he was 18. That is statutory rape. Don't even try saying she consented; it doesn't matter because she is under the age of consent. For God's sake, she was a child. He should be rotting in jail. This is not romantic; it's disgusting.

Then, you have the self-proclaimed anarchist out West who is running for a United States Senate seat. Consider the irony in that (Anarchy: absence of government and law). This guy claims to not believe in any form of government, and now he wants to be a part of the federal government. Oy, vey!

If this is what it means to be a conservative and you are proud of this and honored by it, then I want no part of it or you. Keep it far away from me.

P.S. There's a reason I used a Jewish phrase. FYI, Jesus is a Jew.
